Referrals are not part of any disciplinary or academic sanction.

They are integral for fostering a culture of care.

The Safety Net is a referral form that any member of the Georgetown community can use to let SOS know about a student who may be in need of assistance. Once the form has been received, the SOS team will assess the report and determine next steps.

Referrals should be made when a student is facing concerns that are impacting their health and well-being, their academic progress, and/or their ability to enjoy their time at Georgetown. Some e

  • Mental health concern
  • Medical health concern
  • Death of a loved one
  • Hospitalization
  • Excessive absences
  • Personal emergencies

SOS is a private resource that can provide guidance and resources to students, faculty and staff. We are connected with offices all over campus and collaborate with students to determine the best course of action. Submitting a Safety Net Referral is the best way you can help us, to help others.

Please use the following link to report a concern about a student via the Safety Net referral form. In the event that the referral form does not load due to technical difficulties, please email studentoutreach@georgetown.edu.

SOS can provide direct support for any students enrolled in any capacity at Georgetown, with the current exception of the Law School. We are also available to consult with faculty and staff regarding how to manage less critical student concerns.
