CAPS Response to Racist Comments by Law Professor
Posted in CAPS Announcements
We at Georgetown Counseling & Psychiatric Service (CAPS) write this message in response to the recent abhorrent and indefensible comments made by a Law School faculty member about her Black students. CAPS acknowledges the hurt and damage that ongoing racial bias at Georgetown causes to our Black students, and our community as a whole. This is another example of the destructive and insidious nature of racism, how it intimately impacts the lives of Black students, and the need for us to strategically respond. We will do our best to care for our students, and to push back on the intrapsychic and institutional influences that perpetuate racism.
We want you to know that we stand ready to support Georgetown students impacted by this incident and other instances of racial trauma. Our doors are open if you are seeking a place to talk or wish to connect to off campus mental health resources.
