CAPS Services During the Pandemic

August 28th, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CAPS is currently providing
FREE teletherapy and telepsychiatry appointments for
students rather than in-person visits.

Ongoing telehealth services are available to students located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as some other states where our clinicians’ licenses are valid. If CAPS is unable to provide services in the state where you are currently located, we will work to provide referral information and/or consultation services in an effort to help you find local assistance in your home area.

If you are interested in CAPS services, please call our office at (202) 687-6985, Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm Eastern Time. If appropriate, an initial screening meeting will be scheduled where we will talk through your concerns and discuss a plan for next steps. If there is an emergency after-hours or on weekends, please call the CAPS main office number, (202) 687-6985, on which a menu of options can direct you to our emergency consultation line.

CAPS will also be offering group therapy for students in states where we are legally permitted to do so, as well as educational workshops for students regardless of where they are physically located.

Due to the fluctuating number of requests for services throughout the year, CAPS cannot guarantee that all services will be available at the time of an initial contact. If individual teletherapy or telepsychiatry services are a part of the recommendation, and there are no openings that match a student’s needs or availability, CAPS will discuss other options with you.
